2013: STORYTELLING THROUGH ART WORKSHOP

In 2013, ARCK Boston's CEO and Founder, Sara, led a powerful workshop called "Storytelling Through Art" for Syrian refugee children in Jordan. Collaborating with a team of mentors and a guest artist, the week-long workshop provided a safe space for approximately 25 young individuals to explore their creativity and share their stories.

Through various art activities, the children not only developed artistic skills but also learned the value of self-expression, collaboration, and being part of a supportive community. The workshop kicked off with an introduction exercise where each child created a hand-made name tag. The participants then engaged in a collaborative activity called "weird body," where they drew different parts of the body on folded paper, encouraging them to work together and embrace their individual contributions. The workshop further encouraged self-expression through activities such as drawing still-life with eyes opened and closed, allowing the children to experience the freedom of artistic expression and build confidence. Throughout the week, the children exhibited remarkable creativity, innovation, and a strong desire to learn.

This project exemplifies ARCK's commitment to empowering young minds through art education and demonstrates how art can transcend barriers and provide healing and empowerment for those facing challenging circumstances. The "Storytelling Through Art" workshop was a transformative experience that not only enriched the lives of the Syrian refugee children but also highlighted the power of art as a tool for healing, empowerment, and bridging cultural divides.
