PAST community events

Through public projects, ARCK’s students are provided with opportunities to share their own unique voices with their community. Helping students feel supported and included is imperative as we seek to break down barriers and promote understanding among individuals from different backgrounds in Boston.

2023: Miles of Murals - Together Through Art

As part of our Building Bridges program, ARCK connects young people and their communities through equity-based public art projects. This year, in partnership with the Boston Red Sox, we added to our previous Miles of Murals installations with a mural unveiling and student showcase at Fenway Park.

This project celebrates the collaboration between ARCK students from Gardner Pilot Academy in Allston, MA and BIPOC artist Sandra Tomb. Attendees enjoyed a student artwork showcase and mural unveiling celebrating working together through art. For many of our GPA students, it was their first time visiting Fenway Park. They got to see their artwork on display, an exclusive view of the field, and enjoy the mural unveiling with their peers and community supporters.

2022 : Celebration of Life

Our 2022 Building Bridges program extended our Miles of Murals Project to new heights and new technologies, culminating in a Jumbotron display at Fenway Park. The project was a collaboration between ARCK, The Boston Red Sos, Blackstone Elementary students, and artist Silvina Mizrahi, and wrapped up with a student celebration at Blackstone School. Students were treated with pizza generously donated by Sal’s Pizza and ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s. They ate, smiled, laughed, and celebrated.

2021: Together Through Art

On August 28, 2021, ARCK and local non-profit Operation P.E.A.C.E. co-hosted “Together Through Art,” a free Public Art Walk and Festival in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood. Approximately 200 community members tookpart in a public art tour through a MBTA mobile app. The final stop was a community festival, which highlighted an interactive tree sculpture by Boston-based artists Rebecca McGee Tuck and Jamaal Eversley. Attendees decorated fabric leaves with art and messages of hope.

Mayor Kim Janey also visited the Festival, where she spoke about the power of art and the role artists have played in healing from the pandemic. She even decorated a leaf for the tree on behalf of the City of Boston!
